Florida Business Provides Products for “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition”
Boca Raton, FL (PRWEB) March 20, 2007 -– Lisa Franklin has always strived to make a difference, and later this month, she’ll be doing so on a grand scale. Franklin’s company, Pretty Please Designs, a Boca Raton, Fla.-based manufacturer and distributor of embellished hair accessories and diaper covers, is donating headbands to a family featured on ABC-TV’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” one of a host of generous companies that is helping to improve the lives of four young children.
The Wilson family of Longs, S.C., became a candidate for “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” after the show’s producers heard that Renee Wilson was living in a cramped, leaky trailer with her four grandchildren, whom she took in to save them from being split up by the state’s foster care system. The family was living in an undersized trailer held together by duct tape, and the windows were covered with blankets and plastic to keep the cold out. Thanks to “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” the family received a beautiful new home, and Erica, 5, the youngest grandchild--who didn’t even have a bed to call her own—was presented with an assortment of Pretty Please Designs headbands to help fill her new dresser.
“I can’t believe that out of all the headbands in the world, the design team for ‘Extreme Makeover’ chose mine to feature on the show,” said Franklin.
“It is really exciting and a huge achievement for my company. But the best part is that I added something to Erica’s new home that will help her feel extra-special every day".
Franklin’s products were brought to the attention of the show by Mercedes Rosa, owner of Columbus, Ohio-based Entourage Juvenile. Rosa was impressed with the headbands and other products Franklin sells. “I’m always on the lookout for beautiful things for girls’ hair,” she said. “Sometimes just putting on something that makes you feel special as a girl can give you the ability to face the world.”
Franklin got into the wholesale accessory industry five years ago. Her customers include small, high-end children’s boutiques throughout the nation as well as some larger stores. Her products are featured on her company Web site and at industry trade shows.
