Pet Supermarket Opens Its Largest Store in Miramar, Florida

One of the main aspects that is different with this store, versus other stores, is the size. This new store is over 11,000 square feet, with tall 24' high ceilings. Most Pet Supermarket stores vary in size between 6,000 and 8,000 square feet. This larger size will allow the store to carry roughly twice as much merchandise as a standard store.
The second aspect that is different with this store is the overall appearance of the store. The entire store has custom flooring that looks like wood, grass, water or rocks, depending on the department the customer is in. The reptile department has a huge mural on the wall giving the impression of being in a desert. The fish department has mermaids that appear to be floating above the fish in a sea of water. The dog food department has an area dedicated to natural foods with old-fashioned barrels holding product. And the store is surrounded by giant light boxes that bring the store alive with images of people and their pets. The store has even been formally entered in a number of national retail design competitions.
Pet Supermarket began as Pet Circus over thirty years ago in South Florida and was owned and managed by Charles West, who still owns the chain today. West states, "I'm extremely proud of the growth we've seen. The expansion can be attributed to the hard-working team of employees here who love Pet Supermarket.
